Trail Running in Taos & Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico

From rambling dirt and rock to Pine needles and Aspen, there is a trail for you.

Experience some of the most beautiful alpine trail running in New Mexico. Taos Ski Valley boasts 11 public hiking trails and several summit opportunities, including the highest peak in New Mexico: Wheeler Peak, topping out at 13,161 ft. You'll enjoy abundant wildflowers and may meet our resident herd of Bighorn Sheep in the higher elevations. Fall is especially spectacular in the ski valley as the aspens put on a show from mid-September through early October. Taos Ski Valley hosts two premier trail running events.

In August 2021, join us for the 15th running of the Taos Ski Valley Up & Over 10k Trail Run. This course winds through the ski trails and up to 11,819 feet before decending through the wild flowers and mountain streams of the "back side" of our mountain.

September 19th, 2020 will be the 5th year for the Bull-of-the-Woods Trail Race with 1/2 Marathon and Marathon distances. The Trail Marathon distance will take you to Kachina Peak 12,481 ft., before climbing to the half-marathon Fraser Peak 12,163 ft.
