A hot air balloon flight with Rio Grande Balloons will create memories to last a lifetime. The Sangre de Christo Mountains provide beautiful scenery for the dreamlike experience of flying in a hot air balloon. The mountains serve as a backdrop to the dramatic landscapes of the Rio Grande Gorge, cutting through the expansive sage-covered Taos Plateau. Depending on the time of year and weather conditions, Rio Grande Balloons will often descend into the Rio Grande Gorge canyon to fly just above the river. This allows an opportunity to see the local wildlife, including Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, in their natural, canyon habitat. This is truly one of the most unique and beautiful flights in the country!
Rio Grande Balloons is a locally owned and operated small business that places great importance on safety and sharing a genuine and personal experience of flight with their passengers. Their pilots have extensive training and flight experience. Also, they all hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate (“license”) issued by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and maintain a Second-Class Medical Certificate through an Aviation Medical Examiner. All of their balloons are regularly maintained and inspected in accordance with FAA requirements.
