Named after Standard Oil heiress and fashion icon Millicent Rogers, the museum features 15 galleries that focus on the art, culture, and history of Taos and the greater Southwest. Founded in 1956 with Millicent Rogers' personal collection, the museum has since grown to over 7,000 objects, and hosts a variety of events throughout the year.

Highlights are the museum's namesake's jewelry collection, rotating special exhibits, and the museum store, which only carries merchandise made in the region.
