Yes, You Can Bring Fido to Taos Ski Valley!

When many of us hit the road for a holiday we just don't want to leave our beloved, four-legged family member behind. There are many inns and hotels in the beautiful Taos area that accept pets so you can bring Fido along. Following is a list of our Taos and Taos Ski Valley hotels that will allow your pet to stay with you. Please do call them first, though. Most have special rules or charge a pet fee and some will want to give their approval of your pet before your arrival.

Alpine Village Suites - allows pets in all rooms
Blue Sky Retreat Center and B & B - pets allowed in some rooms
Burch Street Casitas - yes, pets allowed
El Monte Sagrado - does allow pets
El Pueblo Lodge - pets allowed in some rooms
Hacienda del Sol B & B - some rooms allow pets
Kandahar Condos - some units allow pets
Palacio de Marquesa - some rooms
Quail Ridge Taos - some units
Rio Hondo Condos - some units
Sagebrush Inn - some rooms
Taos Mountain Vacation Rentals - yes, all rooms allow pets
The Blake - some rooms are pet friendly
Winter's Hope Condo - yes, with approval prior to arrival

As you pack your own bags you'll want to be sure your four-legged friend also has everything they will need in the mountains - soft bedding, food & meds, treats. Does your pet stay in a kennel carrier? Some inns will request that you bring a carrier, or crate, to keep the animal in while you are away from the room. Perhaps your little guy needs a sweater? The temperatures at night can dip into the negative degrees up in the Ski Valley and sometimes also in the town of Taos. A collapsible water bowl is a smart item to have on you during the entire trip. Remember to keep your dog as hydrated as you keep yourself. And of course, don't forget the leash and collar. While your dog may be well-behaved off the leash other little guys that are on the leash sometimes don't appreciate being charged by a bigger, younger and more rambunctious dog.

Finally, while you are here in the Taos area keep Zen Animal Wellness' phone number on hand-they are a house call veterinary practice that focuses on traditional Chinese veterinary medicine (575-779-7279).
