Up & Over Trail Run Weekend 2026

Spanning the first weekend of August in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico, the Up & Over Trail Runs challenge runners with a demanding 10K and 20K course on Saturday, August 1st. On Sunday, August 2nd runners can take on the daunting VerticAL’s VertK, quickly becoming a classic. 20th Annual Up & Over 10k

Saturday’s Up & Over 10K is notoriously challenging with many runners returning year-after-year to beat their PBs. There are many groups that run together; friends, co-workers, and whole families who want to take on the mountain. The course is a formidable and scenic 2,612’ climb from 9,321′ at the base, topping out at 11,819′. Expect amazing views of Kachina and Wheeler Peaks, followed by a technical descent through high alpine terrain. 

ALL NEW! The Up & Over 20K to Celebrate 20 Years of Up & Over Fun!

The Taos Ski Valley Up & Over Trail Run Weekend is raising the bar for our 20th Anniversary with a 20K challenge built for runners who crave serious altitude and even more attitude. This commemorative double-loop course packs a challenging 4,700 feet of vertical gain as you charge up rugged alpine trails, crest jaw-dropping ridge lines, and bomb down technical descents only TSV can deliver. It’s raw, it’s beautiful, and it’s absolutely not for the faint of heart. If you want bragging rights long after race weekend wraps, this is the race you’ll remember forever. Lace ’em up and button-up those chin straps! **Important Note: The 20k will have a time limit of  3hrs 15 minutes and requires runners to submit a qualifying time of 2:30 in a verifiable 1/2 marathon to enter.

4th Annual VerticAL’s VertK

On Sunday is the VerticAL’s VertK, a daunting vertical 1K up TAOS’s Al’s Run. In winter, Al’s is an intimidating long, steep black diamond ski run directly under Lift 1, carved with seemingly infinite measure of moguls. VerticAL’s participants will scramble up from the base to the finish at the top of Al’s  – a grueling gain of 1,497’. Due to the demanding terrain, this event will be open to participants 16+ years old.

Get Into Double Trouble!

All events offer incredible views of the mountains while the Up & Over and VerticAL’s are sure to push runners to their limits. Participants can choose to run one, or both events for the ultimate Up & Over challenge – the “Double Trouble”! Special prizes awarded to top male and female Double Trouble combined time winners.

3rd Annual Up & Dn Kid’s 1K

This one is just for the kids – a mini-version of our classic Up & Over 10K run, the out and back course takes young runners up Pioneer Run and back down again at a distance of 1k. Bring the kids to join in the fun with their own Up & Dn!

This fun run is open to children 10 and under. Race will be untimed with overall boy and girl winners receiving a prize. All runners will receive an Up & Dn finisher’s medal. Half of all proceeds from the Up & Dn go to benefit Enchanted Circles Trail Association (ECTA).
